Harris and Tim Walz have returned the $4,000 political donation from a former executive of FTX
On August 8th, Tim Walz, the Governor of Minnesota who was recently chosen as Kamala Harris's running mate for Vice President in the Democratic Party, received a political donation of $4,000 from Nishad Singh, former Engineering Director at FTX in October 2022. According to records from the Minnesota Campaign Finance Board, Singh handed over this fund to Walz's re-election committee in October 2022. It is reported that Walz later returned this donation amidst controversies surrounding the bankruptcy of FTX and Alameda Research. Currently, Governor Walz remains silent on digital assets and blockchain issues and has not yet proposed a clear stance on cryptocurrency policy. The community speculates that based on his approach to other issues such as climate change, Walz may support stricter regulations. According to Axios reports, Walz does not hold stocks, mutual funds, bonds, private equity real estate or cryptocurrencies which might result in fewer conflicts of interest when formulating related policies.
