PANews reported on August 8th, according to Scroll's official announcement, the Ethereum Layer2 network Scroll will launch the highly anticipated Darwin upgrade on August 21, 2024. The purpose of this upgrade is to reduce multiple batch Gas fees by a single aggregate proof, thereby reducing Gas costs by 34%. The Darwin upgrade bundles multi-batch proofs into a single validity proof, reducing verification costs. This improvement will be achieved by introducing new batch encoding formats and bundling concepts.
The specific timetable for this upgrade includes:
1. Deploying the upgrade on the Scroll Sepolia testnet on August 14.
2. Executing contract upgrades on the Scroll mainnet on August 21.
