Brazil Supreme Court Threatens Musk to Suspend X Operations in the Country by August 29th
Brazilian Supreme Court Judge Alexandrede Moraes has said that ElonMusk will suspend the company's X social media platform in Brazil by August 29, 2024 if he doesn't designate a legal contact to represent X's operations in the country, Cointelegraph reports. Two weeks ago, X said Supreme Court Judge Alexandre de Moraes had threatened to arrest its legal representative in Brazil, and in response, the X platform announced on Aug. 17 that it would shut down its operations in Brazil, but that the social media service would remain open to all Brazilian users. Earlier this year, Musk reportedly said that Moraes had taken “illegal” and secretive measures to force him to censor content on X. Moraes claimed that X allowed “misinformation” about the Brazilian government to be propagated on the social media site.
