Lawyer John Deaton, who supports cryptocurrency, wins the Republican Senate nomination in Massachusetts
Cryptocurrency-supporting lawyer John Deaton has won the Republican Senate nomination in the Massachusetts primary and will compete with Democratic Senator Elizabeth Warren in November. According to an Associated Press report on September 4, Deaton defeated two other Republican candidates. As of press time, Deaton had received 64% of the vote. Notably, Deaton's campaign was supported by several prominent figures in the crypto industry, including the Winklevoss brothers and Ripple executives. The cryptocurrency political action committee Commonwealth Unity Fund invested more than $1 million in Massachusetts to support Deaton's campaign. Major donors to Deaton include founders and executives from companies such as Ripple, Gemini, SkyBridge Capital, Cardano and Kraken. According to Federal Election Commission records, as of July 31st ,Deaton's campaign fundraising had reached approximately $1.7 million dollars . Previously, Deaton represented 4,701 Coinbase customers submitting amicus curiae briefs to SEC supporting their lawsuit against SEC.
