Harris campaign slams Trump's comments on Fed ahead of economic speech
The campaign of U.S. Vice President Kamala Harris harshly criticized Donald Trump's comments on the Federal Reserve's first interest rate cut in four years and put the spotlight on the economy ahead of the November presidential election. Trump, the Republican nominee, weighed in within hours of the Fed's 50-basis-point cut on Sept. 19, calling it a “political move” and saying a 25-basis-point cut was appropriate. He has previously suggested that an independent central bank should be subject to some degree of executive control.
