NFT Artist DeeKay: All Wallets Stolen, Cause Undetermined
On October 11th, renowned NFT artist DeeKay posted on X saying, “I have just been a victim of cybercrime. All my wallets were stolen and all the savings I had earned as a Web3 artist disappeared. This happened during my 14 hour flight from Korea to New York, I didn't have access to the internet during the flight, I don't know how this happened but I'm guessing it was a seed phrase leak. I have a handwritten photo of the seed phrase that was synced to Google Drive, hidden in a random folder, but there was no sign of any suspicious login activity, and it's possible that the photo was physically exposed ...... I'm not sure exactly what it was because of. I haven't downloaded anything weird, at least never intentionally, and I haven't been socializing with anyone suspicious lately.”
DeeKay added: “Strangely enough, only my funds were taken, while NFT is intact. I have already started transferring my valuable NFTs to a new address. I have nothing now and this is probably the biggest challenge of my life. My biggest concern is that all of my family members are financially dependent on me, so I need to get back on my feet as soon as possible to continue to support them. Right now, my brain is exhausted and I need to get some sleep first.”
