Telegram will open an office in Kazakhstan to improve regulatory compliance
Telegram is improving compliance and communicating with Kazakhstan's regulatory authorities by establishing local offices. The Ministry of Digital Development, Innovation and Aerospace Industry of Kazakhstan announced on October 14 that Telegram has agreed to appoint local representatives and open an office in the Republic of Kazakhstan. Minister Zhaslan Madiev stated that Telegram's physical presence in the country would be "an important step towards strengthening control over message platform content." Given Telegram's extensive influence in the country, this move is significant. According to Pavel Durov, founder and CEO of Telegram, every month 12.5 million Kazakhs (more than half of the country's population of 20 million) use Telegram, a growth rate of 25% compared to 2023.
