Gary Gensler responds to whether he would resign if Trump is elected: No comment on the election
News on October 22, the current U.S. SEC Chairman Gary Gensler's term is set to expire on January 5, 2026. Generally speaking, if the opposition party takes over the White House, the chairman will choose to resign. However, if Trump is successfully elected as the next U.S. president and if Gary Gensler decides to stand his ground, he can also complete his term.
When asked by reporters whether he would resign if Trump wins, Gary Gensler said that he would not comment on elections but added "Elections have consequences."
