According to PeckShield, there were 20 cryptocurrency wallet hacks in October, resulting in losses of $88,4 million. Total losses in the crypto sector in October rose to almost $181 million.

The result of hacker attacks in October 2024

Analysts at the PeckShield blockchain platform found out that the largest incident in October involved Radiant Capital, which lost $53 million in cryptocurrency after its multi-signature wallets linked to the blockchain were hacked. Ethereum .

Among other major exploits, PeckShield experts named the theft of $20 million in assets from the US government's crypto wallets. However, the hacker soon returned most of the stolen funds.

According to another analytical platform OKLink, cryptocurrency holders lost $43,5 million in October due to phishing attacks. As a result of private key leaks, investors lost $7,2 million, and due to fraud, $45,7 million.

In October, the crypto industry's losses were down 26% compared to September, when hackers stole $120 million in more than 20 incidents. In August, the figure was even higher — $300 million. Moreover, in the last month of summer, there were only 10 hacker attacks.
