Michigan officials optimistic about preliminary election results expected by noon Wednesday

Officials in the US state of Michigan are optimistic about the counting of Tuesday's election results and expect preliminary results to be released by noon Wednesday at the latest. Michigan Secretary of State Jocelyn Benson noted that new rules allowing election workers to begin processing absentee ballots as early as 28 October have made vote counting more efficient. Benson said, ‘We are in an excellent position to process late ballots.’ This is the first time Michigan has allowed preprocessing of absentee ballots in a statewide election. While former President Donald Trump wanted to see the results in Michigan on Election Day night, one Trump supporter said she didn't expect to learn the results that night and said she wasn't worried. ‘I know it's not going to happen, I'm not going to stay up waiting.’
