Ontario Police Thank Stablecoin Issuer Tether (USDT) for assistance in investigating the criminal case and blocking 10 Canadian dollars ($000) in USDT stolen by fraudsters. It is known that the stolen assets have already been returned to the victim.

Specialists from Tether collaborated with experts from the Ontario Police Department's Cyber Investigations Unit.

Thanks to the voluntary assistance and cooperation with Tether International Ltd. the stolen digital assets were successfully recovered and returned to the victim. This cooperation was instrumental in ensuring the assets were quickly frozen, said police officer Addison Hunter.

According to the CEO Tether Paolo Ardoino, the company "supports law enforcement efforts to combat cybercrime" and will continue to work with police around the world. One of the company's goals is to "bring criminals to justice in order to help victims."

Tether has been cooperating with law enforcement for several years now. For example, back in July 2020, the company blacklisted 39 addresses on the network Ethereum , which collectively held approximately $46 million in USDT linked to illicit activity. As recently as December 2023, Tether announced the freezing of wallets of individuals and legal entities subject to sanctions by the US Office of Foreign Assets Control.
