The newly elected and not yet inaugurated US President Donald Trump is considering candidates with a positive attitude towards cryptocurrencies for appointment to key positions in financial agencies. This is пишет The Washington Post, citing informed sources.

According to media reports, the Trump administration is currently recruiting specialists and developing a strategy that could turn the United States into a “global cryptocurrency center.”

Donald Trump is aiming for a more lenient US government stance on digital assets, and his top advisers are advising crypto businesses on potential changes to federal regulation.

Early discussions have focused on several important financial regulators, including the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC). Sources familiar with the matter said candidates include current and former regulators, as well as leaders from the financial sector, many of whom have previously supported cryptocurrencies.

Among the SEC candidates being considered are Robinhood General Counsel Dan Gallagher and two Republicans serving on the commission, Hester Peirce and Mark Uyeda. Peirce has even been named as a potential interim SEC chief who could eventually lead a crypto-policy task force.

In addition, Trump and his team also turned their attention to former SEC Commissioner Paul Atkins and former Commodity Futures Trading Commission Commissioner Chris Giancarlo.

It is also known that the general counsel of the cryptocurrency exchange was present at Trump's election party in Florida Creak Marco Santori and one of the conference organizers Bitcoin 2024.
