Powell: policy to gradually adjust to neutral level, expect inflation to continue to fall towards 2% target
Federal Reserve Chairman Jerome Powell said the economy has not signalled that the Fed needs to rush to lower interest rates. Policy will gradually adjust to a neutral level, but the policy path is not predetermined. Inflation is expected to continue to decline towards the target of 2 per cent, although the process may experience ‘occasional fluctuations’ in the path.
