On November 24, the U.S. SEC recently announced that its enforcement efforts for the fiscal year 2024 have reached a historic high, highlighting its efforts to maintain market integrity and protect investors. The agency revealed: "In fiscal year 2024, a total of 583 enforcement actions were initiated, while obtaining $8.2 billion in financial remedies, which is the highest amount in SEC history.
Compared with 2023, the number of enforcement actions initiated by the SEC increased by 14%. SEC Chairman Gary Gensler praised the role of the Enforcement Division: "The Enforcement Division is a steadfast police force that will follow facts and laws to hold violators accountable wherever they are. As this year's results show, this division helps promote integrity in our capital markets and benefits both investors and issuers."
