Analyst: Bitcoin's recent surge may have given investors a false sense of security
George Milling-Stanley, Chief Gold Strategist at State Street Global Investment Management, believes that Bitcoin's recent surge may have given investors a false sense of security.Milling-Stanley says, ‘Simply put, Bitcoin is a return-seeking investment, which suggests that investors are flocking to Bitcoin to make capital gains, not because they see a value or use for Bitcoin.’ The launch last week of options based on spot bitcoin ETFs may have something to do with that, with options allowing investors to put up less cash to bet on fluctuations in the price of bitcoin rather than buying the currency itself.
