Spain’s CNMV grants first tokenisation license to Ursus-3
The Spanish securities watchdog, Comisión Nacional del Mercado de Valores (CNMV), has granted the first-ever tokenisation license in Spain.
This approval allows Ursus-3 Capital, in partnership with Onyze, to offer tokenisation services for real-world assets (RWA).
The move marks a significant step forward in the country’s adoption of blockchain technology, especially in the realm of asset tokenisation.
It also opens up new opportunities for Spanish companies that are interested in entering the decentralised ledger space.
“We firmly believe that the tokenization of real assets opens a universe of possibilities for entrepreneurs and that it is important to guarantee the legal security of investors,” Juan Jurado, the general manager of Ursus-3 Capital, commented on the milestone.
With the approval in place, third parties can now contract the tokenising services offered by the consortium.
The approval is expected to facilitate the tokenisation of a wide range of assets, from real estate to more traditional investments, making them accessible in a more efficient and secure manner.
This license is part of Spain’s broader efforts to regulate and integrate blockchain technology into the financial system, ensuring both legal protection for investors and the creation of new investment possibilities.
The development is seen as a positive step towards the mainstream adoption of blockchain in Europe, with Spain positioning itself as a key player in the global tokenisation landscape.
As the country embraces tokenisation, it paves the way for further regulatory clarity, encouraging innovation in digital assets and blockchain technology.
According to sources, businesses in Spain are now able to use these services to tokenise their assets, expanding their options in a growing market.
