The Korean Won continues to fall against the US dollar, at one point reaching a new low for the past two years.
Previously reported, South Korean President Yoon Suk-yeol suddenly made a live television speech tonight, announcing the implementation of "emergency martial law". Yoon Suk-yeol listed several reasons, claiming that the opposition party is manipulating parliament and disrupting the country. He said he will purge "anti-state forces" within South Korea. The specific measures of martial law are not yet known.
External analysis suggests that recent moves by South Korea's opposition party to push for legislation targeting the president's wife and impeachment of prosecutors and other public officials may have been triggers for Yoon Suk-yeol's announcement of "emergency martial law".
