New York City Mayor Eric Adams: Those who once mocked me for taking my salary in Bitcoin should be regretting it now
According to DL News, after soaring 129% this year, Bitcoin is about to break through the $100,000 mark. New York City Mayor Eric Adams said on Tuesday that people's skepticism towards him is laughable. Adams stated: "Remember when you all laughed at me when I first got Bitcoin? Who's laughing now? Go look at my Bitcoin now; you all laughed at me then and now you wish you had done the same." In January 2022, when Adams took office, he received his first three paychecks in the form of Bitcoin and Ethereum which were worth approximately $30,000.
On Tuesday, Adams declined to disclose how much cryptocurrency he holds. However according to his recent financial disclosure statement by the end of 2023 his holdings in bitcoin will be between $5,000 and $54,999. The mayor currently faces criminal charges for bribery and campaign finance violations. He has denied all wrongdoing.
