Layer N unveils N1 blockchain with 100K TPS and multi-language support

Layer N, a blockchain technology company backed by Peter Thiel, has announced its pivot to a new proprietary blockchain, N1.

The company, originally launched as a layer-2 solution on Ethereum (CRYPTO:ETH), now claims to focus solely on developing what it calls the next generation of blockchain technology.

The N1 blockchain promises to enable “hyperfast” transactions with a target of processing 100,000 transactions per second (TPS), positioning it as one of the fastest blockchains if this goal is realised.

The company’s December 5 announcement highlights that N1 will support popular programming languages, including Typescript, Rust, and C.

Peter Thiel's backing and the technology’s focus on high transaction speeds and multi-language support have generated interest in the blockchain space.

In comparison, Ethereum's planned "Surge" upgrade, according to co-founder Vitalik Buterin, also targets 100,000 TPS for its network, which will include Ethereum Layer 1 (L1) and Layer 2 (L2) solutions.

Although N1's TPS capabilities are still in development, the team aims to make the blockchain scalable enough to handle high-demand applications.

The project also asserts its commitment to supporting a broad range of programming languages, including Solidity and C, with the eventual goal of accommodating any language for any application.

N1 has already secured partnerships with Sushi and Amber Group, alongside its ongoing projects, such as Mindshare, a SocialFi app, and a complex on-chain AI simulation inspired by the series Westworld.

While the ambitious claims of N1 are still in early stages, the backing of Thiel’s firm and the project's focus on high computational capabilities positions it as a potential disruptor in the blockchain space.

"All these apps feature a unique theme: they cannot be built elsewhere due to their computation complexity," according to the company.
