DZ Bank and the first community bank pilot retail cryptocurrency services
The German Central Cooperative Bank (DZ Bank) has begun trialing retail cryptocurrency solutions with the first bank, Westerwald Bank, opening a crypto wallet and starting trading. Other cooperative banks are expected to go live in 2025, but the exact timing depends on each institution. In March, DZ Bank partnered with Stuttgart Stock Exchange (Börse Stuttgart) to provide its customers with retail cryptocurrency trading and custody services. DZ Bank serves 737 community banks (also known as Volks and Raiffeisenbanke).
