21shares hires executive from asset management company abrdn as CEO, President, COO
PANews reported on December 8th, according to ledgerinsights, that the Switzerland-based cryptocurrency asset management company 21shares has hired Russell Barlow from abrdn as its CEO and his colleague Duncan Moir as president.
abrdn is one of the largest asset management companies in the UK, managing assets (AUM) close to $650 billion. 21.co also announced a reorganization, spinning off its technology department into an independent company called 21.co Technologies but still under the control of 21.co Holdings. Since mid-year, the scale of assets managed by 21Shares has grown by two-thirds and now exceeds $10 billion.
This reflects to some extent the rise in cryptocurrency prices during this period. The founders of 21.co Hany Rashwan and Ophelia Snyder will serve as co-chairs of 21Shares and be responsible for daily operations at this tech firm. Internally, Andres Valencia was promoted to Executive Vice President of Investment Management at 21Shares.
