Investigators found that after being hired, the new recruits were trained in the tricks of the trade for at least two weeks. They were told how to start romantic relationships with victims, posing as women, and talk about business topics. Then the scammers created accounts on social networks and messengers, began communicating with men and offered them to invest money in dubious enterprises, promising them high dividends.

After establishing contact with future victims, the rank-and-file scammers passed on the correspondence to more experienced fraudsters who carried out the scams. If successful, the resulting income was divided between all participants in the fraudulent scheme, and the employees of the office located in Nigeria were paid in cash. Nigerian law enforcement agencies are cooperating with law enforcement agencies from other countries to identify the organizers of the underground business and catch them. How many people suffered at the hands of the criminals, and how much they managed to earn, has not yet been reported.
