The judge has postponed the trial between CFTC and Gemini until January 21st

New York court judge Alvin Hellerstein has decided to postpone the civil case between the U.S. Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC) and Gemini Trust Company until January 21, 2024, originally scheduled for trial on January 13.

This case originated from allegations made by the CFTC against Gemini in 2022, accusing it of providing false or misleading statements to the CFTC when applying to offer Bitcoin futures contracts in 2017. The postponed trial date will coincide with the inauguration of a new president, which may affect the CFTC's stance towards Gemini and other cryptocurrency companies. The court stated that unless there are special circumstances, no further delays will be approved.
