Senator Warren urges Trump's Treasury Secretary to consider stricter cryptocurrency regulation
In an open letter on January 12, Warren asked the incoming Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent whether the Treasury Department should have more power to sanction the cryptocurrency industry.
Warren wrote: "Should anti-money laundering/counter-terrorism financing and sanctions programs include reasonably designed risk-based provisions to prevent money laundering or terrorist financing involving digital assets?" He is about to become the leading Democrat on the Senate Banking, Housing, and Urban Affairs Committee.
