January 29 scammers advertised cryptocurrency through the UFC MMA promotion account on Instagram, a social network banned in Russia.

It turned out that the attackers had hacked the company's account and posted a message: "UFC fans have been waiting and now is the moment. Prepare to own the legacy. Precision, power. All in one coin."

The post, which remained in the feed for more than 30 minutes, included a link to a website dedicated to a digital asset allegedly created by the UFC, which was in fact released by scammers. UFC employees quickly regained control of the account and deleted the publication. It is currently unknown whether anyone was harmed by the criminals.

In its entire long history, the UFC has released only NFT collection together with the crypto exchange Crypto.com . Non-fungible tokens are dedicated to fighters, legendary fights and championship belts.

Coins that are sold on Crypto.com , are not in demand, judging by the low price of $2 to $5. Given this fact, it is unclear why hackers chose the UFC as a target for their attack.

February 1 takes place UFC Fight Night: Adesanya vs. Imavov, where Sergey Pavlovich, Shara Bullet, Michael Page and other famous fighters will fight. It can be assumed that the cybercriminals chose the time to hack the promotion's account for a reason, hoping to attract the attention of a wide audience ahead of the start of the competition.
