Telegram requires third-party wallets to use TON Connect, and market sentiment is mixed

On February 7th, Telegram announced that all third-party encrypted wallets must be connected through TON Connect in the future and only support applications on the TON blockchain. This decision marks a further deepening of Telegram's cooperation with the TON Foundation, and TON Connect will become the only supported protocol within the Telegram ecosystem.
According to Telegram's explanation, this policy will require developers to complete the transition within 7 to 10 days in order to make their applications compatible with the TON ecosystem. This move aims to improve security and promote the development of decentralized applications. Telegram emphasizes that the TON blockchain is the core platform for its encrypted payments and applications, and the use of TON Connect will enhance cross-platform compatibility and User Experience.
However, some developers and partners have expressed concerns that this measure may lead to TON being overly dependent, thereby weakening its competitiveness with other blockchain platforms. Tim Delhaes, co-founder of Grindery, pointed out that Telegram's policy may change its partnership with other blockchain projects and may even lead some developers to turn to other platforms.
As Telegram strengthens its integration with the TON ecosystem, TON's future development depends on its competitiveness in the market and community feedback. Whether it can continue to maintain its leading position will be a focus worth paying attention to in the future.
