"Armored Tesla" disappears from the U.S. government procurement list
Previous reports stated that the U.S. State Department's procurement forecast list did not mention a $400 million purchase of armored electric vehicles from Tesla (TSLA.O) company. The document's version from December last year included a budget item for an "armored Tesla", with the project starting in 2025 and lasting five years, but this document has been modified to remove Tesla's name.
Musk served as a government expenditure supervisor in the Trump administration, an unprecedented role that raised a recurring question: how he could regulate himself when his company bid on official contracts. Musk argued that all activities led by his Government Efficiency Department would be handled transparently. Now, there is still a contract worth $400 million left on the documents, which is still in planning stage, but its name has been changed to more generic "armored electric vehicle".
