Analysis: If Bitcoin closes above 96,337 US dollars in Q1, Strategy is expected to be included in the S&P 500 index in the first half of the year
Odaily Planet Daily reports that Strategy (MSTR) is expected to be included in the S&P 500 index before June 20. Currently, the company meets all eligibility requirements except one: achieving positive GAAP net income over the past 12 months (the sum of the last four quarters). To qualify, the company's earnings for Q1 2025 must be high enough to offset losses from the previous three quarters. This goal can be achieved by adopting (now mandatory) digital asset accounting rules set by Financial Accounting Standards Board (FASB).
For this, Bitcoin needs a first quarter closing price higher than its average purchase price of $96,337 within these three months. A closing price below this level will force Strategy to record a loss and may hinder its inclusion in the S&P 500 index.
