Abstract Chain investigating as some users report wallet drains, apparently related to Cardex
Quick Take Abstract Chain is currently investigating reported wallet drains from some users. The compromise appears to relate to connecting to the onchain fantasy game Cardex.

Ethereum Layer 2 chain Abstract, developed by Pudgy Penguins’ parent company Igloo Inc., is investigating reported wallet drains from some community members.
“We are aware of some Abstract users being compromised and want to assure everyone it is not a network wide Abstract Global Wallet (AGW) issue,” Abstract’s OxBeans posted to X on Tuesday. “This issue seems to be isolated to an app (seems to be Cardex, please do not interact for the time being), we are working to get to the bottom of it,” they said, adding that updates would be provided as soon as possible.
Cardex is an onchain fantasy game involving tokenized trading cards that launched on the new Layer 2 on Feb. 11.
Dozens of users flocked to Abstract’s official Discord channel earlier on Tuesday to raise the issue, demanding their money be returned and questioning the initial lack of an official response.
Various users claimed funds ranging from a few hundred dollars to over $100,000 in ether had been stolen.
Developed using ZKsync’s ZK stack, Abstract went live on mainnet in late January. In preparation for Abstract's development, Igloo raised $11 million from investors, including Founders Fund. Abstract has over 100 community-created apps, the project claims.
The Block reached out to Abstract and Cardex for comment.
