U.S. Treasury Secretary Bessent: Musk's DOGE has saved approximately 50 billion U.S. dollars
U.S. Treasury Secretary Bessent stated that Musk's Government Efficiency Department (DOGE) is committed to making the federal government more efficient, and U.S. taxpayers do not have to worry about the security of their personal data. Bessent said in an interview with Fox News on Tuesday that so far, the DOGE team has identified savings of about $50 billion.
"So this is a good start," he added, efforts to cut costs could ultimately save "a few percentage points of GDP." However, the DOGE team's attempt to access extensive taxpayer data, including individuals', has raised concerns among Democratic lawmakers about privacy issues. Bessent stated that U.S. taxpayers "do not need to worry about these things."
