Trump: will impose tariffs on imported agricultural products from 2 April
Donald Trump said on social media that the United States will impose tariffs on ‘outside’ agricultural products from 2 April, in his latest threat to erect trade barriers against imports. Trump said: ‘To the great farmers of America: get ready to start producing large quantities of agricultural products for sale here in the U.S. Tariffs will be imposed on outside products on 2 April.’ Trump did not elaborate on which products would be affected or whether there would be exceptions. It was unclear whether his plan was part of a previously announced effort to impose so-called ‘reciprocal’ tariffs on nearly all U.S. trading partners.
