White House economic adviser: expect Q1 to barely move into positive growth, trade policy uncertainty to be resolved by early April
On 10 March, US White House economic adviser Hassett said he ‘remains optimistic about the US economy, with growth in Q1 linked to the legacy of former US President Joe Biden's administration and the timing of tariffs with President Donald Trump’. Trump's trade policies are beginning to have the desired effect of bringing manufacturing and jobs back to the US. Be wary of recessionary talk, with the first quarter expected to barely move into positive growth territory. Trade policy uncertainty will be resolved by early April.
