Argentine lawyer requests global arrest warrant for LIBRA creator

Argentine lawyer Gregorio Dalbon has formally requested an Interpol Red Notice for the arrest of Hayden Davis, co-creator of the LIBRA (CRYPTO:LIBRA) token, citing concerns that he might flee due to access to substantial funds.

Dalbon submitted the request to prosecutor Eduardo Taiano and judge María Servini, arguing that Davis’s role in the creation and promotion of LIBRA posed a procedural risk.

“His central role in the creation and promotion of the $LIBRA cryptocurrency, coupled with the international impact of the case, increases the likelihood that he will take steps to evade justice,” the filing reportedly stated.

The LIBRA token launched on February 14, 2025, and saw a surge in value after Argentine President Javier Milei shared it on social media.

Its market capitalisation peaked at over $4 billion before collapsing as creators sold off their holdings.

This led to allegations of a pump-and-dump scheme, with investors suffering significant losses.

Hayden Davis, CEO of Kelsier Ventures and a key figure behind LIBRA, has faced criticism over leaked messages suggesting he boasted about paying Karina Milei, the president’s sister, for promotional support.

Davis has denied making payments and claimed he had no record of such communications.

In an interview with YouTuber Stephen Findeisen (Coffeezilla), Davis defended himself by stating that the project was a failure rather than a scam.

He admitted to earning $100 million from LIBRA but denied owning or selling tokens during its crash.

President Milei has distanced himself from the controversy, claiming he merely “spread the word” about LIBRA and did not actively promote it.

However, several lawyers have filed fraud charges against him in Argentine courts and reported him to U.S. authorities for financial crimes.
