ANALYST: Trump's wording is vague, tariff uncertainty remains high
Odaily Planet John Canavan, chief analyst at Oxford Economics in New York, NY: It's not entirely clear from the way President Trump worded it whether he's actually pausing (the tariffs) or just lowering reciprocal tariffs to 10 per cent. But either way, it's clear that Trump dropped some of the worst of the tariff threats here, and I think that's clearly a sustainable net positive for risk assets. One thing it doesn't do is remove uncertainty, and that uncertainty is because tariff levels seem to change on a daily basis.
