Analyst: Tariff pause is just a temporary respite Market wait-and-see sentiment remains strong
Institutional analyst Chris Stadele says that while the tariff pause is good news, we still need to think about whether anything substantial has changed. Again, this is a 90-day pause, and this tariff war is not over. This ‘pause’ could create more uncertainty for companies that need to make decisions today but plan months in advance. Prior to the announcement, trading volume on the Emini S&P 500 futures at the Chicago Mercantile Exchange (CME) was quite low, suggesting that investors were wary of taking bullish or bearish risks given the volatility we've seen in recent days. At this early stage, no one knows if the rally that has occurred over the past hour is short covering or investor ‘risk appetite’. I'm not trying to sound like a ‘super bear’, I'm just reminding everyone to remain cautious, and as far as tariffs are concerned, we're not out of the woods yet.
