Zelensky Proposes Extending Ceasefire to 30 Days
On the 19th local time, Ukrainian President Zelensky posted on social media stating that Russia has not responded for 39 days to a proposal for a comprehensive and unconditional 30-day ceasefire. If Russia suddenly expresses willingness to join the comprehensive and unconditional ceasefire framework at this moment, Ukraine will respond reciprocally—however Russia acts, Ukraine will respond in kind. If a full ceasefire is truly achieved, Ukraine proposes extending the ceasefire period until after Easter on April 20th. This will test Russia's true intentions because 30 hours is not enough to establish genuine trust measures, whereas 30 days might create an opportunity for peace.
