Stripe is developing a USD stablecoin product
Patrick Collison, CEO of global payment platform Stripe, announced that the company is developing a USD-based stablecoin product, mainly targeting markets outside the United States.
Previously, Stripe was approved to acquire the stablecoin payment network Bridge for $1 billion in October 2024, and the acquisition was completed in February 2025. Bridge was founded in 2022 by two former Coinbase executives, Zach Abrams and Sean Yu, and primarily competes with the SWIFT global payment system.
