Trump Downplays Trade Talks, Says Lowering Prices is Key
According to a report by Jinse Finance, U.S. President Trump stated that he will set tariff levels and trade preferences for partners who wish to avoid high tariffs, which seems to indicate that he no longer considers repeated negotiations. He added, "We will propose very fair numbers, which will be a lower figure. We do not want to harm other countries." Trump said last Sunday that the first batch of agreements could be reached as early as this week, but his latest remarks suggest he may continue to change his approach. Trump also said he is tired of questions about when an agreement will be reached. "We don't have to sign an agreement. If we want, we can sign 25 agreements right now. We will sign some agreements, but more importantly, we will lower the prices of shopping in the United States."
