Republicans Seek to Fund Trump's Tax Cuts by Selling Public Land
House Republicans have added a plan to raise billions of dollars by selling thousands of acres of federal land to fund Trump's massive tax cut plan, a politically charged idea that has faced opposition from some within the party. The plan is a supplement to a package of legislation approved earlier Wednesday by the House Natural Resources Committee, which calls for the sale of dozens of parcels of federal land in Utah and Nevada, totaling more than 11,000 acres (4,450 hectares). Overall, the committee's legislative package aims to raise more than $18 billion through increased federal oil, gas, and coal leasing sales, as well as timber sales and other means. House Republicans aim to cut $2 trillion in spending while reducing $4.5 trillion in taxes. (Jin10)
