Space and Time Mainnet Launch Powers Next-Generation Data-Driven Crypto Applications
Space and Time Mainnet Launches, Providing Zero-Knowledge Proof Data for Smart Contracts to Empower the Development of a New Generation of Data-Driven Cryptographic Applications
San Francisco, California, May 8, 2025, Chainwire
Microsoft-backed Space and Time, a blockchain focusing on zero-knowledge proof (ZK) data, has launched its public, permissionless mainnet. Space and Time aims to provide ZK proof data for smart contracts, empowering the development of a new generation of data-driven encrypted applications. It is able to index data from other major blockchains, including Ethereum, and store it in a decentralized database of validators. Developers can utilize Space and Time's SQL database query sub-second ZK co-processor—Proof of SQL, access and query ZK proof data, and link it back to their smart contracts.
“Prior to Space and Time, on-chain applications could not query basic user data from the blockchain activity database without introducing security risks and potential tampering. Additionally, enterprises were unable to securely connect their cloud databases to smart contracts. Today, we are excited to announce the launch of the Space and Time mainnet, which will enable developers to build complex, data-driven on-chain applications and ensure security through cryptographic proof,” said Space and Time contributor #001 Scott Dykstra.
Current smart contracts lack native access to historical, cross-chain, or off-chain data, limiting the complexity of on-chain applications. Chainlink, through secure oracles and cross-chain messaging, has pioneered smart contracts' external data access, addressing key contextual issues. The next wave of on-chain innovation—encompassing everything from dynamic financial instruments to data-rich AI agents and tokenized real-world systems—will require a trusted database layer for sophisticated data retrieval. Space and Time has achieved this through a verifiable decentralized database network, enabling smart contracts to query full historical data from Ethereum and other blockchains.
“Smart contracts need context to make decisions, whether it's real-time market data, cross-chain messaging, or historical on-chain activity. Chainlink has provided the connection fabric for data to securely flow between systems, and Space and Time brings powerful new computational capabilities to complement this vision. Together, we are pushing the boundaries of what developers can build on-chain,” said Chainlink co-founder Sergey Nazarov.
Space and Time is created by MakeInfinite Labs, a cutting-edge protocol research lab supported by Microsoft and in collaboration with major financial institutions. In addition to the work on Space and Time, the company has also developed key technologies for the broader crypto ecosystem, such as Proof of SQL, Blitzar (Space and Time's elastic ZK chain), and the Chainlink DeFi Yield Index.
“At MakeInfinite Labs, we focus on building infrastructure to support the next generation of crypto applications. Contributing core technologies like Proof of SQL and the original architecture of Space and Time is part of our vision. We are excited to see the ecosystem move this work forward, unlocking new possibilities for verifiable, data-driven applications,” said Nate Holiday, CEO of MakeInfinite Labs and co-founder of Space and Time.
Space and Time is protected by a group of decentralized validators, and anyone can contribute to the network by providing high-quality datasets, staking, or running a validator node.
About Space and Time
Space and Time is a blockchain for ZK-proof data, enabling smart contracts to trustlessly access and compute data from any chain or source. With the sub-second ZK co-processor known as Proof of SQL, Space and Time empowers developers to build more intelligent, data-rich verifiable data applications.
About MakeInfinite Labs
MakeInfinite Labs is a cutting-edge protocol research lab dedicated to contributing to some of the important protocols and ecosystems in the crypto space, including the creation of Space and Time. MakeInfinite Labs raised $50 million from Microsoft's M12 Ventures and other top investors to build infrastructure that enables developers and creators to build data-driven applications, tokenize and monetize, and win in the AI economy.
