SafeMoon CEO found guilty in US cryptocurrency fraud trial, faces 45 years in prison
A U.S. federal jury found SafeMoon CEO Braden Karony guilty on all charges in a cryptocurrency fraud case, which prosecutors say resulted in the misappropriation of millions of dollars of investor funds. After a 12-day trial presided over by U.S. District Judge Eric R. Komitee in the Eastern District of New York, Karony was convicted of conspiracy to commit securities fraud, wire fraud, and money laundering. Following the verdict, he faces up to 45 years in prison. The jury also ordered the forfeiture of a residential property and the proceeds from the sale of another property, totaling approximately $2 million.
