According to ChainCatcher, as reported by Decrypt, the Ethereum-based game "Ember Sword" which had attracted $203 million in revenue through NFT land sales four years ago, has now announced its closure. Developer Bright Star Studio stated that due to the failure to secure the necessary funding for continued operations, the game servers have been permanently shut down, and the related Discord channel has been restricted.

The project's history shows that this MMORPG game attracted 35,000 players at its peak in 2021, who purchased virtual land NFTs worth $203 million. The project's advisory team included industry veterans such as former Blizzard Chief Creative Officer Rob Pardo. After launching a closed test in July 2024, the game received a poor response and ultimately failed to reverse its decline even after migrating to the Ethereum Layer2 network Mantle. The market value of the game's token EMBER has plummeted to $80,000, a drop of over 96% from its peak.
