Sui Protocol Upgrade Proposal Vote to be Passed Early on May 30 at 4 AM to Return Stolen Cetus Funds
The governance proposal vote for Sui to conduct a protocol upgrade to return the stolen funds recovered from hackers to Cetus is expected to pass early on May 30 at 4:00 (UTC+8). Currently, the proposal has received a 54.4% voting rate, with 54% in favor and only 0.3% against.
If this vote passes, the next version of Sui will include a protocol upgrade that will support one-time authentication for two specific transactions. These transactions will be hard-coded with the addresses of the two attackers, the stolen asset objects, and their destinations. It will verify the voting results, and if approved, the stolen funds in the attackers' addresses will be transferred to a Cetus multi-signature wallet, with Cetus, the Sui Foundation, and OtterSec as signatories.
