Fitch analyst Olu Sonola noted in a report that the Federal Reserve might view the moderate personal consumption expenditure inflation report as "the calm before the storm." He wrote: The Federal Reserve will continue to wait for the storm to arrive—unless consumer spending shrinks significantly and the unemployment rate rises rapidly. Sonola stated, "This report shows that American consumers remain resilient."
