Musk’s Criticism of Trump’s “Big Beautiful Bill” Escalated, Reaching The Epstein Files
Key Points
- There’s an ongoing feud between Musk and Trump that triggered chaos on X.
- Beginning with Musk’s disagreement about Trump’s recent “big beautiful bill”, the attacks escalated, hitting other sensitive subjects.
Elon Musk’s X platform is filled with chaos following the recent events involving his criticism of the US President, Donald Trump’s “Big Beautiful Bill”.
The scandal began right after Musk left the DOGE dept. when his time leading the cabinet expired. Musk led DOGE for 180 days, as previously agreed with Trump. As he stepped down, Trump offered his gratitude for his time leading DOGE, but this coincided with the debut of a scandal that shattered X.
Here’s what happened between Musk and Trump over the past days.
Trump’s “Big Beautiful Bill” Controversy
Musk criticized Trump’s so-called “Big Beautiful Bill,” saying that it bloats spending and will boost the US debt higher than ever before.
On June 5, Musk said that the “Big Ugly Bill” will increase the US deficit to $2.5 trillion. He also posted that the spending bill contains the largest increase in the debt ceiling in the country’s history, calling it the “Debt Slavery Bill,” and quoting Sen. Rand Paul.

Musk’s opposition to this bill came after he had already explained that the US needs to cut spending, not pass more of it. He explained this during a meeting with Trump, detailing how to end inflation and drop interest payments forever.

On June 5, when Trump was hosting the German Chancellor Friedrich Merz, a reporter asked him about Musk’s latest criticism – Trump said that he always liked Elon, but he’s prefer that Musk criticized him and not the bill, highlighting that this bill will bring the biggest cut in the history of the US – about $1.6 trillion.
He also said that the reason why Musk is upset is that the administration took the EV mandate, explaining that there was a lot of money for electric vehicles.
Musk responded on X, telling Trump to keep the EV/solar incentive cuts in the bill, but to ditch the mountain of “disgusting pork” in it.
Trump also highlighted that he had a great relationship with Elon, but he doesn’t know if this will continue anymore.
Musk’s Accusations Intensified
After these statements, everything went downhill, with Musk debuting a series of posts on X, accusing Trump.
Musk said that without him, Trump wouldn’t be the President of the US today.
Musk also said that he didn’t know what the bill included, as it was never shown to him. Instead, it was passed in the dead of night so fast that almost no one in Congress could even read it.
Trump Brought Up the EV Mandate
Trump shared a post via Truth Social saying that Elon was wearing thin, and he asked him to leave, taking away his EV Mandate that forced everyone to buy electric cars that nobody wanted, and this is what made him crazy.
Trump also said that the easiest way to save money in the US budget is to terminate Elon’s government subsidies and contracts, and he’s surprised that Biden didn’t do it.
Meanwhile, on X, Musk called the bill “Kill Bill’ referring to Tarantino’s movie, and shared one of Trump’s older posts from 2012-2013 in which he was saying that he cannot believe that the Republicans extended the debt ceiling.
Musk also posted “Where is the man who wrote these words? Was he replaced by a double?” making a reference to Trump’s recent post on Truth Social in which he was saying that Biden was executed in 2020 and replaced by clones and soulless robots since.
Where is the man who wrote these words?
Was he replaced by a body double!? https://t.co/N4Mliip5U4

Grok’s Take on the “Big Beautiful Bill”
X Chatbot, Grok, also addressed the bill H.R.1. which passed on May 22, 2025, extending the 2017 tax cuts, funds border security, and raises the national debt.
Grok also highlighted the bill’s clash with Trump’s 2012 stance against budget deficits.
@realDonaldTrump @cryptosheep_eth The One Big Beautiful Bill Act (BBB) seems to clash with your 2012 stance against budget deficits. The CBO projects the BBB adds $2.4-$3.0 trillion to the deficit over a decade, despite tax cuts like no tax on tips and spending cuts to Medicaid…

Following all these bill-related posts, eventually Musk dropped “the bomb” on June 5, linking Trump to the Epstein files.
Musk Accuses Trump of Being in the Epstein Files
Musk said that this is the reason why the files were never made public, and the truth will eventually come out.
Time to drop the really big bomb: @realDonaldTrump is in the Epstein files. That is the real reason they have not been made public.
Have a nice day, DJT!

Musk also posted information about the relationship between Trump and Epstein, claiming that Trump allegedly flew on Epstein’s plane 7 times, but it’s not clear that he went to the island.

Musk then shared another post saying that, in light of Trump’s statement about canceling his government contracts, SpaceX will begin decommissioning the Dragon spacecraft immediately.
From the Big Beautiful Bill to the Epstein Files
These are the most important posts and exchanges between Trump and Musk during the past days, and it’s interesting to see how things escalated from the “Big Beautiful Bill” to the Epstein Files, which have not yet been released to the public.
However, it’s probably important to highlight the fact that Trump was among the few people who collaborated with the authorities in the Epstein case, and 2020 reports revealed that Trump banned Epstein from Mar-a-Lago for hitting on a member’s daughter.
The Musk/Trump feud triggered various suspicions on X, with some voices even saying that this is all staged – a 4D chess to grab the public headlines and lay the scenery for revealing the Epstein files. We’ll have to wait and see how this unfolds.
It’s also interesting to note the fact that Trump did not say anything about Elon’s accusations that he’s in the Epstein files.
However, one question remains: If Musk knew about a supposed “Trump/Epstein” involvement, why did he continue supporting him instead of speaking out sooner?
Despite the chaos on X, the crypto industry managed to remain calm, with Bitcoin experiencing a slight dip to $100,000, but it managed to maintain prices above the important psychological level.
