World Liberty Financial (WLFI), a DeFi project associated with the Trump family, has announced that it will acquire a “substantial position” in the memecoin $TRUMP. The confirmation came via Eric Trump, who also revealed the end of the initiative to launch a Trump-branded cryptocurrency wallet, which was unveiled earlier this week in partnership with Magic Eden.
On Tuesday, Magic Eden and Fight Fight Fight LLC announced plans to launch a digital wallet and trading app integrating the $TRUMP token and other cryptocurrencies including Bitcoin (BTC), Ethereum (ETH), Solana (SOL), Cardano (ADA), XRP and Dogecoin (DOGE). However, former President Donald Trump’s children quickly dismissed the project, saying the Trump Organization has “no involvement whatsoever” with the initiative.
World Liberty Financial has taken legal action against the company involved, sending a cease and desist letter, ending the project of the supposedly “official” wallet. In a statement published in X (formerly Twitter), WLFI stated: “The Trump meme and WLFI may be on different paths, but they share the same road. The same values, the same mission — to amplify American strength through innovation.”
Eric Trump reinforced WLFI’s commitment to the $TRUMP memecoin: “While their meme portfolio is not moving forward, they remain focused on building the most exciting MEME on the planet: $Trump.” He also confirmed WLFI’s intention to acquire a significant portion of the token for its Long-Term Treasury.
In the same week, World Liberty distributed its own USD1 stablecoins to wallets participating in the initial offering of the project’s native token, WLFI. The move reaffirms the expansion of the group’s ecosystem, which has direct support from the Trump family.
In another episode, the former president gathered the 220 largest holders of the memecoin at his golf club outside Washington, DC, which generated criticism among members of the Democratic Party, who accuse Trump of “selling out America”.
