US Republican Leaders Urge Lawmakers to Quickly Support Core Content of Trump Bill
According to CBS, Republican leaders in the U.S. White House and Congress are urging lawmakers to quickly support the core elements of Trump's agenda, stating that the immigration protests happening in Los Angeles have increased the urgency for securing more resources for border security. House Speaker Johnson stated on X on Monday that this legislation involves Trump's priorities on taxes, energy, and immigration, "providing crucial funding needed to ensure border security." Johnson said, "The lawlessness occurring in Los Angeles is yet another reason we need to pass the 'Beautiful Act' immediately." He promised that Congress would support the staff of Immigration and Customs Enforcement. White House Press Secretary Levitt also sent a similar message earlier on Monday, stating that the scenes in some areas of Los Angeles "prove our urgent need for more immigration enforcement personnel and resources."
