According to The Washington Post, Musk's DOGE team installed the Starlink satellite internet system at the White House in February this year, despite opposition from government security experts. White House communication experts expressed concerns about the installation of the system citing national security reasons. The installation of Starlink also led to conflicts between DOGE employees and the Secret Service. DOGE staff installed the Starlink terminal on the roof of the Eisenhower Executive Office Building without notifying the White House communication team, allowing the White House to access the internet via Starlink without standard tracking or certification safeguards, potentially leading to data leaks or hacking. It is unclear whether the White House still has the Starlink terminal installed after Musk left the White House and publicly broke with Trump, but it is reported that other government agencies have also used Starlink. However, a Secret Service spokesperson stated: "We are aware that DOGE intends to improve internet access on the campus and do not consider this a security incident or breach."
