Trump: Iran Has Reached Out to Us, My Patience with Iran Has Run Out
U.S. President Trump revealed today that Iran has reached out to the United States. He stated that Iran is facing numerous difficulties and is seeking negotiations. He noted that Iran should have entered into talks earlier. However, he also questioned why, if Iran wanted to negotiate, it had not done so before. Trump said that although Iran has now taken the initiative to make contact, he told them it was too late, emphasizing that there is now a significant difference compared to a week ago. He claimed that Iran has no defensive capability at all. Yet, when pressed by reporters, Trump added that nothing is ever truly too late. Trump also said that his previous demand for Iran to surrender unconditionally meant that he could no longer tolerate the situation and that his patience with Iran had run out. When discussing the possibility of launching an attack on Iran, he stated that action might be taken, or it might not. When asked whether he had issued an ultimatum to Iran, Trump replied that it could be interpreted that way. He reiterated that Iran must not possess nuclear weapons. Trump also mentioned that he is in daily contact with Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu, and that he had told Netanyahu to "keep moving forward," but has not yet indicated whether the U.S. will provide further assistance to Israel.
