Strategy Faces Securities Fraud Allegations Over Public Statements Related to Bitcoin Investments
According to a report by Jinse Finance, Strategy is facing at least five class action lawsuits initiated by law firms over alleged securities fraud related to its public statements about Bitcoin investments. Several legal experts have noted that it is not uncommon for multiple law firms to compete for the lead plaintiff position in such cases, as the lead firm stands to earn substantial legal fees. The lawsuits stem from Strategy’s purchase of $7.7 billion worth of Bitcoin in the first quarter of 2024, which resulted in nearly $6 billion in unrealized losses due to a decline in the cryptocurrency’s price. Currently, Strategy has responded in SEC filings, stating that it will actively address the allegations but cannot predict the outcome of the cases.
